Ortigia Island is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Sicily and is just a 40-minute drive from Noto. There is so much to see and do on your visit to Ortigia, so along the way, you will want to refuel. Here are my personal recommendations for dining out...
Chiodo is a quirky lunch location in a small courtyard off one of Ortigia Island’s main corso, Via Roma. It is set amongst old benches and bar stalls, and it offers a small selection of quirky items for sale.

Caseificio Borderi has a reputation for serving the best panini or sandwiches not just in Ortigia Island or Sicily but throughout Italy. It would only be fitting that you make your own judgement, although, with so many other food options, it's a tough choice.

This is a local eatery on the marina side of Ortigia Island, so it's a lovely place to sit and enjoy lunch in the sunshine or shade, as per your preference. There are numerous eateries along this strip, but Sorelle a Mare is away from the most touristy spots.

Il Cucchiaino is a fantastic ice cream parlour offering various neighbourhood-made gelato and granita. Who said ice cream isn’t a lunch as long as you eat enough of it

Cortile Spirito Santo is Ortiga Islands' first Michelin Star Restaurant, thanks to Chef Giuseppe and his team. In the summer, you can dine in the courtyard (Cortile) behind the Church of the Holy Spirit (Spirito Santo), and during the cooler months, you can eat inside the hotel (Palazzo Salmone Luxury Suites) where the restaurant is located.

Don Camillo is an old-school restaurant at its very best, with stone arches, linen tablecloths, impeccable service and outstanding food and wine.

MOON, standing for ‘Music Out Of Normality’ - don’t ask me why, but I’m sure there will be a reason - is Ortigia Island’s vegetarian restaurant. There is alfresco seating for the summer and inside seating for the cooler months.

Clou is the fine-dining restaurant of Grand Hotel Des Étrangers, a 19th-century palace turned luxury hotel. I have never visited, which is a serious oversight on my part. I will soon rectify this, but the pictures and reviews mean I have included it here.

Sicily Pizzeria is a super relaxed urban backstreet eatery offering the Ortigia Islands' very best pizza. Swift service delivers the most scrumptious pizza you may have ever tasted.
